Continental ponies encompass native pony and small horse breeds originating on mainland Europe. They span Nordic, German-Austrian, Eastern European, Greek-Balkan, Italian, and French subgroups. Bay, black, chestnut, and grey are the principal colours across these breeds. Island-origin breeds from the British Isles and non-European groups are not included.
