What is Icelandic Horse?

A small, sturdy gaited horse from Iceland, standing 135–150 cm with a thick coat suited to cold climates. It carries a genetically fixed tölt and often the pass, making it prized for Pleasure Riding, Trail & Leisure Riding and sport. Strict purity rules forbid foreign bloodlines, and importing horses into Iceland is prohibited to prevent disease. A dedicated global studbook (WorldFengur) is managed by FEIF.
