What is Flat Racing?

Flat Racing sees Thoroughbreds gallop at full speed over level ground without obstacles. Jockeys ride mounted with saddle and bridle, racing for the fastest time over a set distance. Pattern and Listed races anchor the competitive calendar, governed worldwide by the IFHA. Unlike Jump Racing there are no obstacles, and unlike Harness Racing jockeys ride rather than drive sulkies.
