What is Jump Racing?

Jump Racing is a horse-racing discipline where horses must jump over obstacles such as fences, ditches, water jumps, and hurdles during the race. Two main subtypes are Hurdling, which uses hurdles only, and Steeplechase, which features varied obstacles. The discipline is traditionally held in the winter season, especially in the UK and Ireland (National Hunt). Jump Racing differs from Flat Racing (no jumps) and Harness Racing (racing with a cart and pacing/trotting horses) by requiring horses to jump obstacles during the race.
