What is Mounted Archery?

Mounted archery is the art of loosing arrows at targets from a moving horse, camel, or other mount without holding the reins. Riders guide their mount with seat and legs alone while drawing and shooting shorter, robust arrows designed for stability in motion. In competition, accuracy and riding skill carry equal weight, and each run is timed against a 14-second limit. The discipline centres solely on archery, distinguishing it from the broader mounted combat family that includes melee and other mounted activities.
