What is Working Equitation?

Working Equitation celebrates traditional working riding styles from across Europe and South America, complete with national costumes and historic tack. Riders navigate four trials, dressage, ease-of-handling, speed trail, and cattle work, that test real livestock-handling skills. The discipline is governed by the World Association for Working Equitation and took formal shape in the 1990s. Unlike dressage or Western riding, it prioritises cultural working methods over sport-specific or breed-specific performance.
