What is Dülmen Pony?

The Dülmen pony is a semi-feral breed from Germany, kept in herds across the 350-hectare Merfelder Bruch reserve in North Rhine-Westphalia. Standing 127–132 cm and accepting all coat colours, it is bred primarily for driving. The breed is classified as Critical by FAO 2024, with a German population of roughly 49. A studbook has been maintained since February 1994.
