What is Hanoverian?

The Hanoverian stands 160 to 190 cm tall and appears most often in bay, black, chestnut, or gray. Bred for Dressage, show jumping, eventing, driving, and leisure riding, it consistently ranks among the top FEI/WBFSH studbooks. The breed traces to the Celle stud in Germany's Lower Saxony, founded in 1735 by George II. Its studbook was established in 1888 and privatized in 1922 under the Society of Hanoverian Warmblood Breeders.
