What are North American Horse Breeds?
These breeds span Colonial Spanish, foundation, and stock horse types, with coats in bay, black, chestnut, gray, dun, palomino, roan, and pinto. They serve riders across ranch work, racing, pleasure, dressage, show jumping, and eventing. Each breed was developed in or tied to Canada and the United States, some through complex or obscure histories. Over 96 breeds are documented, with the Canadian Horse studbook dating to 1886.
