About the Westphalian

Standing 160–175 cm and typically bay, gray, or black, the Westphalian is a correct, appealing riding horse with bold, elastic gaits. Bred for dressage, show jumping, eventing, and leisure riding, it delivers versatile performance across sport and recreational disciplines. The breed originated in Westphalia, Germany, and is closely affiliated with the state-owned Warendorf stud farm shared with the Rhinelander. Its own studbook has been recognised since 1904, with organised breeding tracing back to 1826.
