AMERICANA has been running since 1986. What started as a competition rooted in American western riding culture has been part of Friedrichshafen for over four decades.
What is AMERICANA?
AMERICANA is Europe's largest trade fair and competition event for western riding and leisure equestrian sport, taking place at Messe Friedrichshafen in Baden-Württemberg from 1 to 5 September 2027. Founded in 1986, it covers the full breadth of Western & Ranch: competitive sport, trade, education, and western culture in one venue. The event draws professional and amateur competitors, breeders, horse owners, industry trade visitors, and everyone who follows the western lifestyle. Exhibitors from across the world fill eight halls with everything from clothing and tack to stable construction. Daily competitions run across disciplines including Reining, Cutting, and Ranch Riding, alongside evening shows, workshops, and specialist talks. Tickets are available on the official website.

What happens at AMERICANA?
AMERICANA 2027 runs for five days, Wednesday to Sunday, with daily competition rounds across more than 50 disciplines and a continuous supporting programme at Messe Friedrichshafen. Competitions cover Western & Ranch disciplines including Reining, Cutting, and Ranch Riding, with a substantial prize fund spread across all five days. Each evening, the Show-Arena hosts performances featuring line dance shows, live bands, and western professionals. On the trade and education side, a health forum and a newly introduced health congress run alongside workshops, practical demonstrations, and a dedicated EDHV area focused on horseshoeing. The Bluebird Café Lake Constance opens on Friday and Saturday evenings with live country acts. Daily Meet & Greet sessions and autograph signings give visitors a chance to meet well-known names from the western riding scene.
Where does AMERICANA take place?
AMERICANA takes place at Messe Friedrichshafen on the shores of Lake Constance in Baden-Württemberg. The exhibition grounds sit directly by the lakeside and serve as a central meeting point for the four-country region of Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Liechtenstein. Friedrichshafen is well connected by ferry across the lake to Switzerland and Austria, making it a practical base for visitors travelling from across the region.

Friedrichshafen Airport is served by direct flights, and trains stop at the Stadtbahnhof with a bus connection onward to the fairground. Drivers will find parking on site; ferry services run between Friedrichshafen and Romanshorn, and between Konstanz and Meersburg. Combined tickets covering admission and local transport are available.
AMERICANA 2027 is a ticketed event; a day ticket gives access to all eight exhibition halls, the competition arenas, the supporting programme, and the evening shows in the Show-Arena. There is something here beyond the sport: the mix of trade stands, live music, food trucks, and evening entertainment means a visit works as a day out even for those with only a passing interest in western riding. An evening ticket is available for those planning to come mainly for the night programme. Family tickets cover two adults and up to three children; reduced-price tickets apply to students, apprentices, and people with severe disabilities. Good to know
